You might be carrying a weight that’s hard to name, or you’re navigating challenges that feel too big to face alone. It’s okay to feel stuck, or in need of support—these moments are part of being human. Therapy is a space where you don’t have to go through it alone. Together, we can explore your experiences and find ways to help you heal and thrive

"Dear Ruth,

Thank you for our time and teaching me not just about CBT but about kindness, patience, reassurance and understanding. It is so lovely to have my faith in myself restored again. I will take our time together forwards into my future and use it well"

About Me:

I have trained to work with a variety of mental health issues from anxiety and depression, phobias, OCD, trauma, relational problems, attachment issues to Bipolar and psychosis. In addition I have had extensive training on living with the challenges that can occur with ADHD and Autism.

Together we can begin a journey to help work out how to help soothe both mind and body.

I am a fully accredited (BABCP & EMDR UK) integrative psychotherapist, offering a variety of therapeutic interventions such as

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) and a number of other approaches such as Attachment Theory, Compassion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Somatic Movement, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems.

I have worked in mental health for the NHS since 1995, initially as a Registered mental health nurse and then as a psychotherapist.

At present I work 3 days a week as a psychotherapist for an NHS Early Intervention for Psychosis Service.

"Dear Ruth,

Where to begin... Thank you so much for everything that you have done for me. Your warmth, kindness and compassion knows no boundaries and I'm so glad that it was you that helped me through the journey from postpartum psychosis to recovery.

"Therapy was tough at times but I managed it because of how safe and brave you made me feel each week. I will never forget the impact that you've had on my life and will be forever grateful for the care that you've given me to get better again. Warm wishes and a million 'thank yous"

What Is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT is a collaborative talking therapy that helps individuals explore how their thinking impacts on their emotions, behaviours and physiology.

CBT works by helping us recognise and thus change problematic thinking styles and behaviours. It is commonly used to treat a variety of mental health problems and is an evidence based treatment recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE)

What is EMDR?

The central idea behind Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing is that traumatic memories are stored in both mind and body in an unprocessed form, causing ongoing physical, psychological and emotional distress.

EMDR helps reprocess these memories enabling the brain to integrate them in a healthier way. These unprocessed memories are accessed by eye movements or tapping. While initially developed for PTSD, EMDR has been successfully used to address many mental health difficulties.
